Schedule: Full-Time, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Salary: $75,000–$110,000

Job Overview

A Southern California-based commercial construction and development company is seeking a reliable and team-oriented Project Engineer to join its growing team. The Project Engineer will have the opportunity to work on projects across a variety of market sectors. This position is responsible for evaluating submittals and RFIs to support construction activities and helping resolve design and field issues. The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager in coordinating with subcontractors, field supervisors, owner representatives, and architects to ensure quality and timely project completion.

Project Engineering Responsibilities

• Work in conjunction with coordination teams, management teams, and field staff
• General Contract and Subcontract administration
• Construction scheduling
• Material and equipment procurement and expediting
• Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
• Project cost review, reporting, updating, and accounting
• Creation of RFI documents as needed
• Create and maintain project meeting minutes and logs
• Review and negotiate change proposal pricing
• Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
• Research and suggest options on construction means, methods, and equipment
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in the development and management of projects through additional tasks as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• A combination of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field, and 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer at a GC; or 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer at a GC
• Strong technical and administrative skills with the ability to stay organized
• Ability to multitask and coordinate work across several facets of a project
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Sage 300 CRE, and other project-related software
• Valid California Driver’s License and driving record suitable for company insurance requirements
• Excellent time management and organizational skills

The company determines compensation using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. External equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index are evaluated relative to comparable positions in the marketplace. The posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined based on a candidate's region, cost of living, experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills.

For new hires, the company strives to make competitive offers that provide room for future growth. Compensation also takes into consideration external market rates, internal budgets, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger skill sets may receive higher compensation within the established range.
