Project Engineer

Overview

The Program Manager will be the liaison between Development Departments and all “Upstream” & “downstream” customers for scheduling / communication / deliverables / events in relations to HVAC program development on all existing and HVAC New Model programs. Under limited supervision, this position will work closely with other functions on “upstream” activities for the successful transfer of information and schedule development from initial concept through SOP. This position will also lead the coordination of all associated BOMs within the program scope and track necessary deliverables to ensure the program milestones are achieved.

Responsibilities

1. Drives cross-functional team to ensure all HVAC program deliverables are completed on-time and at target level. Holds team members accountable and escalates high risk issues for quick resolution.

2. Confer with senior leadership team, engineering, production, or sales team to discuss project specifications or procedures.

3. Manages and controls program financial budgets for: Bill of Material (BOM), Tooling, Investments and Engineering Design & Testing (ED&T).

4. Be the key contact for customers for HVAC program to consult or negotiate to prepare project specifications also to provide deliverable information. Present and explain proposals, reports, or findings to customers.

5. Tracks and reports HVAC program deliverable status to senior leadership team. Assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs, or market demand. Offer technical or operative solutions to ensure the level of quality and cost efficiency in HVAC program.

6. Provides close support to the internal Key account managers for customer technical and commercial issues.

7. Closely coordinates with manufacturing’s New Product Launch (NPL) team to ensure all manufacturing milestones and build dates are met.

8. Generates detailed timing plans to manage and monitor project tasks.

9. Retrieve and report monthly KPI items for the program/department.

10. Leads and enables cross-functional team members to resolve project open issues in a timely matter and generate recovery plans as needed, escalating to senior leadership as appropriate.

11. Drives and supports continues improvement for program management and product development processes.

12. Ensures the project team follows Highly-Marelli development processes and documents all required deliverables. Is a key member of IATF audit support team for programs under review.

13. Communicate with various internal and external teams to address program timing, tool timing and piece cost, timing or cost gap issues, status of open issues, etc.

14. Co-ordinate core team members to deliver QCD targets and lead by example.

15. Support and Execute IATF 16949 Internal Audit Activities:

• Participate in internal audits to ensure program-related processes comply with IATF 16949:2016 requirements
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address audit findings and implement corrective actions
• Maintain documentation and records relevant to program deliverables for audit readiness
• Assist in preparing responses and evidence for third-party and customer audits
• Collaborate with the Quality team to continuously improve audit outcomes and system effectiveness
• Ensure program documentation aligns with IATF standards and supports traceability and compliance

16. Must follow all company requirements regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

· Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and five to eight years of experience in related field (automotive HVAC engineering)

· An advanced degree and generally three to five years of experience in a related field (automotive HVAC engineering)

· Typically have a Certification in PMP: Program Management Professional or have a sufficient program management experiences in the automotive industry

· Certified Internal Auditor for IATF 16949 (preferred) or internally trained (required)

· Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications

· Have strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and possess the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs

· Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test

· Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters

Pay: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
