Location: Auburn Hills, MI (Onsite)

Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel maybe required

Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of automated material handling, AGV, and AMR projects. This role serves as a technical liaison between engineering, project management, manufacturing, and customers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with technical and quality standards.

The position is based on site in Auburn Hills, Michigan, with periodic travel to customer sites, Toronto, and DS Automotion headquarters in Austria as required by project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project execution from kickoff through commissioning and handover
• Assist with project planning, schedules, documentation, and technical coordination
• Act as a technical point of contact between internal teams and customers
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams
• Assist with Coordination of installation, startup, and commissioning at customer sites
• Track project progress, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and company standards
• Support communication with the parent company in Austria on technical topics
• Travel as required to customer sites, Toronto may need to travel to Austria for training.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related field)
• 3+ years of experience in a project engineering, systems engineering, or technical project support role
• Experience with automated systems, material handling, AGVs, or AMRs preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in industrial automation or robotics
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems
• Exposure to customer-facing project environments

Work Environment:

• Onsite role based in Auburn Hills, MI
• Office, manufacturing, and customer site environments
