Project Engineer

Position Summary:

The Construction Project Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of commercial renovation, tenant improvement (TI), and affordable housing projects. This position provides technical and administrative support to the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Ideal candidates are highly organized, detail-oriented, and familiar with the nuances of occupied renovations, interior buildouts, and public or mixed-finance housing developments.

Key Responsibilities:

Preconstruction & Planning

• Assist with scope reviews, bid packages, and subcontractor qualification for renovations and TI projects.
• Support permitting and compliance with city, county, or housing authority regulations.
• Review and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings to identify scope gaps or conflicts.

Project Execution & Coordination

• Maintain up-to-date project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
• Track procurement schedules for materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Coordinate closely with design teams, inspectors, and building owners/tenants—especially in occupied rehab settings.

Field Support & Site Communication

• Support field teams with logistics, phasing plans, and jobsite communication.
• Assist with tracking daily progress, safety logs, and subcontractor work completion.
• Participate in weekly coordination meetings and ensure all parties are aligned on schedule and deliverables.

Budget & Cost Management

• Assist in managing project budgets, cost forecasts, and subcontractor invoices.
• Help evaluate subcontractor change requests and ensure proper documentation is in place.
• Track potential change orders and support the PM in preparing Owner change requests.

Quality & Compliance

• Support the development and implementation of project-specific QA/QC plans.
• Monitor adherence to contract documents, building codes, and inspection standards.
• Maintain project closeout documentation including warranties, as-builts, and punch list coordination.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in commercial or multifamily construction (including internships).
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, particularly in renovation and interior buildout work.
• Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, MS Project).
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with public and affordable housing development (LIHTC, HUD, or other subsidized programs).
• Familiarity with working in occupied environments or phased construction settings.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
• LEED or NGBS familiarity a plus.

Pay: $67,500.00 - $72,500.00 per year
