Project engineer

About the role

The Project Engineer will be responsible for mechanical engineering, die-casting equipment, stamping, production machinery, process improvement, equipment reliability, new equipment installation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing engineering projects. This is a highly practical role requiring the ability to work closely with production, maintenance, quality, tooling, process engineering, suppliers, and overseas customers.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure reliable and efficient operation of die-casting, stamping, precision machining and associated production machinery
• Support the development and scaling of manufacturing capacity
• Improve machine productivity, reliability, quality, and cycle time
• Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment-related production issues
• Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
• Improve equipment utilization and reduce unplanned downtime
• Support automation and manufacturing technology improvements
• Work with Production and Maintenance to establish robust equipment standards
• Support engineering projects for new automotive component programs
• Develop practical engineering solutions as the company expands

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
• Ideally 2–3 years of relevant experience in die casting, stamping, automotive components, machinery manufacturing, precision engineering, metal component manufacturing, industrial equipment, manufacturing engineering, plant engineering, equipment engineering, or production engineering
• Experience supporting automotive OEM/Tier 1 or Tier 2 customers highly relevant
• Strong shop-floor mentality with ability to investigate problems directly at the machine and production line
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing systems such as IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and 8D advantageous
• Experience dealing with Chinese machinery manufacturers and equipment suppliers preferred
