Known for our strong client relationships and technical expertise, we serve engineers, contractors, and building owners with reliable, high-performance solutions.

As part of the Impact Climate Technologies (ICT) family of companies, we are backed by a leading HVAC solutions platform serving customers across North America through 36 locations. Our work is guided by ICT’s RECIPE values—Respect & Collaboration, Excellence Always, Customer Commitment, Integrity First, People-Centered leadership, and Expertise & Innovation. These principles shape how we work with our customers, support our teams, and partner with one another every day.

We take a forward-thinking approach, delivering scalable, energy-efficient, and reliable solutions while building long-term partnerships through exceptional service, technical expertise, and support.

Tom Barrow Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team in Orlando. You will work closely with experienced Sales Engineers and other team members to learn HVAC equipment, prepare estimates and proposals, and support customers throughout the sales process.

This position is designed to provide a strong foundation in the commercial HVAC industry, with opportunities to develop technical expertise, build customer relationships, and advance into an outside sales role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify appropriate HVAC equipment and solutions.

  • Assist with preparing accurate equipment estimates, pricing, and customer proposals.

  • Work with Sales Engineers and manufacturers to select equipment that meets project specifications.

  • Develop an understanding of commercial HVAC systems, equipment applications, and industry standards.

  • Support the preparation of equipment submittals and other project documentation.

  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers to support customer accounts and identify sales opportunities.

  • Communicate with engineers, contractors, and customers regarding equipment selections, pricing, and project requirements.

  • Assist with preparing quotes, proposals, and other sales materials.

  • Build relationships with customers, manufacturers, and internal team members.

  • Participate in customer meetings, product training, and sales activities to gain exposure to the sales process.

  • Assist in managing projects from the initial estimating phase through equipment ordering and delivery.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, manufacturers, and customers to ensure project requirements and timelines are met.

  • Track project details, maintain accurate records, and provide updates to team members and customers.

  • Help troubleshoot project-related questions and identify solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Interest in commercial HVAC, technical sales, and building customer relationships.
  • Willingness to learn new products, technical concepts, and industry processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, co-op, or work experience in engineering, construction, HVAC, estimating, or technical sales.
  • Familiarity with mechanical drawings, blueprints, or technical specifications.
  • Exposure to HVAC systems or mechanical equipment.
