Job Title: Project Engineer (Construction) - Agriculture Sector

Job Summary: The Project Engineer (Construction) in the agriculture sector is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of construction projects related to agricultural infrastructure and facilities. They will manage various aspects of construction projects, including site preparation, building construction, and infrastructure development, to support agricultural operations and enhance productivity. The Project Engineer will collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and project teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Design:

• Develop project plans, specifications, and designs for agricultural construction projects, including farm buildings, irrigation systems, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments to inform project planning and design decisions.

2. Procurement and Contract Management:

• Prepare tender documents, solicit bids from contractors, and evaluate proposals for construction contracts.
• Negotiate contracts, review terms and conditions, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and project specifications.

3. Construction Management:

• Oversee the construction process, including site preparation, grading, foundation work, and building erection.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure work is carried out according to project plans and specifications.

4. Quality Control and Assurance:

• Implement quality control measures to ensure construction work meets regulatory standards and project requirements.
• Conduct inspections, tests, and evaluations to verify compliance with design specifications and construction standards.

5. Project Budget and Cost Control:

• Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts for construction activities.
• Monitor project expenditures, track costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities to ensure projects remain within budget constraints.

6. Schedule Management:

• Develop construction schedules, milestones, and timelines to guide project execution and monitor progress.
• Identify potential delays or obstacles and implement strategies to keep projects on schedule.

7. Health and Safety Compliance:

• Implement health and safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for construction personnel.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, identify hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.

8. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily progress reports, work logs, and project documentation.
• Prepare regular progress reports, project updates, and presentations for stakeholders and project sponsors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is desirable.
• Proven experience (X years) in construction project management, preferably in the agriculture sector or related industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction principles, practices, and techniques.
• Proficiency in project management software, CAD software, and construction management tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
• Knowledge of agricultural practices, infrastructure requirements, and regulatory standards is advantageous.
