Project Engineer (Electrical)

Indigeco is recruiting a Project Engineer, Electrical for our client, a leading Australian energy infrastructure business. This is a permanent opportunity based initially in Brisbane, before transitioning to a regional Queensland project site near Cogan during the construction phase.

This owner-side role will support the delivery of electrical, instrumentation and control systems for a major gas-fired peaking power plant project, with a strong focus on construction oversight, technical compliance, contractor management and commissioning.

THE COMPANY

This is an opportunity to join a permanent project delivery team, work across the full project lifecycle and contribute to future energy infrastructure projects beyond the current construction phase.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee electrical construction activities to ensure works are delivered in line with approved designs, specifications, standards and client requirements
• Manage electrical contractors, OEMs and consultants across schedule, cost, quality, safety and technical performance
• Review electrical designs, contractor documentation, work packs, inspection and test plans, procedures and technical submissions
• Support testing and commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, energisation, grid compliance and defect resolution
• Coordinate technical interfaces across electrical, instrumentation, SCADA, communications, civil, mechanical and commissioning teams
• Monitor construction progress, identify risks and issues, and support practical solutions to keep delivery on track
• Ensure contractors deliver works safely, to the required quality standard and in accordance with project procedures

YOUR REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering, construction or major project delivery
• Demonstrated experience on large, complex and long-duration infrastructure, energy or industrial projects
• Strong contractor management and electrical construction oversight experience
• Practical knowledge across high-voltage substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, SCADA, communications or control systems will be highly regarded
• Experience supporting electrical testing, commissioning, energisation or grid compliance activities will be highly regarded
• Willingness to work 2 weeks on site and 1 week off roster for approximately two years during the construction phase
