Project Engineer Electrical

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan, monitor, and execute the master project schedule for the substation, ensuring that critical milestones (e.g., civil handover, equipment arrival, energization) are met on time.
• Oversee subcontractors during the physical installation of heavy high-voltage/medium-voltage (HV/MV) equipment, including Power Transformers, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS), capacitor banks, and protection relay panels.
• Manage the delivery, unloading, and staging of heavy long-lead equipment on-site, ensuring proper crane logistics and site safety clearance.
• Coordinate directly with the civil engineering team to ensure transformer plinths, firewalls, blast walls, underground cable trenches, and GIS rooms are structurally ready and clear of design clashes before electrical installation begins.
• Review and interpret electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), schematic drawings, cable routing layouts, and equipment shop drawings to resolve site execution queries.
• Review technical submittals, datasheets, and procurement specs to ensure vendor packages align with the contract requirements.
• Act as the primary point of contact for utility providers (e.g., Tenaga Nasional Berhad - TNB) and regulatory bodies (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) to coordinate inspections, witness tests, and secure grid connection approvals.
• Work alongside the T&C team to drive pre-commissioning tests such as insulation resistance, CT/VT polarity tests, transformer oil testing, and protection scheme validation.
• Develop and execute the high-voltage energization switching sequences and safety programs required to safely power up the substation from the national grid.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Eligibility for registration as a Graduate or Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Minimum 4 to 6+ years of project execution experience directly handling medium-to-high voltage substations (33kV, 132kV, 275kV, or 500kV).
• Deep understanding of local high-voltage switching safety rules, grid codes, and TNB technical specifications.
• Must willing to be relocated to any other site project.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
