Project Engineer (Electrical / Fire & Gas Detection Systems)

About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineer with an Electrical Engineering and Fire & Gas Detection Systems background to manage and execute projects efficiently and ensure compliance with technical and safety requirements. This position is located in the North Region and will involve both office-based and on-site work.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute Fire & Gas Detection System projects from client requirements, engineering design, procurement, production, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover through to project completion.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections, coordinate site activities, and monitor project progress to identify potential risks, issues, and project constraints.
• Review technical specifications, drawings, and system designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and safety regulations.
• Prepare and review AutoCAD drawings, including system layouts, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
• Prepare and maintain project schedules, progress reports, and project documentation using Microsoft Project and other relevant tools.
• Lead and coordinate project teams by prioritising tasks based on project requirements, outstanding activities, resources, budget, and deadlines.
• Support and coordinate procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, client handover, and training activities as required.
• Provide technical support and assist in resolving technical, installation, and site-related issues throughout project execution.
• Monitor project performance against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, and implement corrective and mitigation actions when necessary.
• Prepare method statements, risk assessments, service reports, test reports, and handover documentation for clients.
• Attend project meetings and provide timely updates on project progress, issues, risks, and deliverables to management and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure all project activities comply with company procedures, industry standards, and applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, or related field)
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in Electrical and Fire & Gas Detection Systems
• Familiar with Honeywell Fire & Gas Detection products
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
