Project Engineer (Engineering Background / Mandarin Preferred)

About Us

Marapine is a USC alumni-owned investment company focused on real estate and essential businesses across Southern California. We own and operate student housing near USC and an educational facility in Pomona, and we're continually renovating and growing our portfolio.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Project Engineer to keep our renovation projects, facilities, and budgets running smoothly. You'll split time between our Los Angeles (USC) and Pomona locations and job sites, working directly with ownership, contractors, and vendors. If you like being in the field, turning messy problems into clear plans, and seeing projects through to completion, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

• Construction & Renovation: Coordinate remodels and upgrades across our USC-area student housing, managing contractors, vendors, materials, schedules, and site walks.
• Drafting: Prepare and revise AutoCAD drawings; work with architects, engineers, and the city on plans and permits.
• Construction Costs: Perform material takeoffs from drawings, source materials, and track project budgets (actuals vs. budget, change orders, invoices).
• Pomona School Facilities: Oversee facilities upkeep and day-to-day operations/admin, set up and support classroom tech/AV, cameras, and access control, and manage upgrade projects.
• Asset Management & Research: Keep facilities and inventory in good working order; research market, regulatory, and feasibility questions for future projects.
• Executive Support: Prepare project and cost reports for ownership and take on special projects as they come up.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• AutoCAD and Excel proficiency
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between LA, Pomona, and job sites
• Experience in construction, facilities, or property operations. Recent grads through experienced engineers are welcome; pay is based on experience.

Schedule & Location

Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays. In person, split between our Los Angeles (90007) and Pomona offices and job sites.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
