Project Engineer Manager

About the role

Lead and manage engineering projects from project initiation through to mass production. Develop project plans, timelines, milestones and deliverables. Monitor project progress and ensure projects meet agreed schedules. Identify project risks, issues and delays and implement appropriate corrective actions. Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, Tooling, Purchasing, Planning, Supply Chain and Customer Service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering projects from project initiation through to mass production
• Develop project plans, timelines, milestones and deliverables
• Monitor project progress and ensure projects meet agreed schedules
• Identify project risks, issues and delays and implement appropriate corrective actions
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, Tooling, Purchasing, Planning, Supply Chain and Customer Service
• Lead NPI activities from customer requirements through prototype, tooling, trial production and production launch
• Review product and process requirements to ensure manufacturability
• Provide technical solutions to product, tooling, process and manufacturing issues
• Act as the key engineering contact for customers during project development
• Monitor project costs and ensure spending is within the approved budget

About you

• Review customer drawings, specifications, BOMs and technical requirements
• Support engineering changes, product modifications and process improvements
• Review and approve engineering documents, drawings, specifications and technical reports
• Work closely with tooling, moulding, stamping, plating and assembly teams where applicable
• Lead technical problem-solving and root cause analysis
• Ensure project activities comply with company procedures, quality requirements and applicable industry standards
• Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA and other applicable quality requirements
• Lead, coach and develop the Project Engineering team
• Assign project responsibilities and monitor individual performance
• Provide technical guidance and support to Project Engineers and Engineering team members
