JOB SUMMARY

Apex Mining Co., Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Mill Maintenance Department.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring engineering and construction projects within the gold processing/mill plant. The role ensures that projects are implemented safely, efficiently, within the approved schedule and budget, and in accordance with applicable engineering standards, specifications, quality requirements, and company regulations.

The position involves approximately 70% field work and 30% office work and requires close coordination with Operations, Maintenance, Process, Electrical & Instrumentation, HSE, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, coordinate, execute, and monitor engineering and construction projects within the mill plant.
• Supervise and monitor project activities, including construction, installation, commissioning, and turnover.
• Ensure that construction and installation activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and applicable regulations.
• Provide technical assistance and direction to maintenance personnel and project teams.
• Coordinate daily work activities with planners, Operations, Maintenance, and other concerned departments.
• Conduct inspections, quality checks, and daily audits within assigned areas.
• Identify unsafe conditions and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE standards, work permits, isolation/LOTO requirements, and safe work procedures.
• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and safety inspections.
• Investigate equipment damage and malfunctions and prepare appropriate technical reports.
• Prepare monthly progress and accomplishment reports.
• Monitor project expenditures and ensure activities remain within the approved budget.
• Review project variations, change orders, additional work requests, punch lists, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, productivity, and compliance.
• Review material deliveries, equipment specifications, and technical submittals.
• Assist with inspections, testing, acceptance, and turnover of completed works.
• Support plant improvement initiatives involving equipment reliability, capacity, recovery, and operational efficiency.
• Oversee projects involving equipment such as crushers, ball mills, conveyors, pumps, cyclones, thickeners, tanks, and piping systems.
• Compile turnover and as-built documentation.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Graduate of Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

• At least 1 year of experience in a related field.

License

• PRC Licensed Mechanical Engineer.

Skills

• Computer literate.
• Knowledge of mechanical drawing, project planning, and supervision.
• Knowledge in project scheduling and budget monitoring.
• Basic CAD knowledge.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to prepare reports and presentations.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position is assigned to the Mill Plant and involves exposure to industrial-related hazards, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, dust, and noise hazards. The role requires substantial field exposure and close coordination with plant operations and maintenance activities.
