What they need
Engineering Obsession is looking for a practical, organised Project Engineer or Project Coordinator to help deliver projects in a workshop environment.
We welcome applicants with an engineering background, a trade qualification or relevant workshop and project coordination experience. An engineering degree is not essential.
This role suits someone who enjoys working alongside tradespeople, solving practical problems and keeping jobs moving from initial scope through to completion.
About the role
You’ll coordinate project requirements with day-to-day workshop activities, helping ensure jobs are completed safely, on time and to the required quality. The role’s technical responsibilities will be tailored to your qualifications and experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating workshop projects, schedules and resources.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and job requirements with the workshop team.
- Working with workshop supervisors, tradespeople and engineering support to resolve issues.
- Coordinating materials, purchasing, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Tracking project costs, progress and deadlines.
- Keeping customers informed about project requirements and progress.
- Maintaining project documentation, quality records and handover information.
- Identifying practical improvements to workshop processes and project delivery.
About you
You bring practical judgement, clear communication and a willingness to get involved on the workshop floor.
We’re looking for:
- Experience in project coordination, workshop operations, fabrication, manufacturing or a similar environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several jobs at once.
- The ability to read and interpret workshop drawings and job specifications.
- Confidence working with tradespeople, customers and suppliers.
- A practical approach to problem-solving and following jobs through to completion.
- A commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
An engineering qualification or trade background would be valued, but neither is essential if you have relevant practical experience. Experience with estimating, purchasing, project costing or CAD software would be an advantage.
Why join Engineering Obsession?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with skilled tradespeople and see the results of your work take shape in the workshop.
Whether you’re a Project Engineer, an experienced Project Coordinator or a tradesperson ready to move into project coordination, we’d like to hear from you
