About the Position:
We are looking for a Project Engineer to join the Interiors Research & Development team reporting directly to the DE Supervisor. This position is based at our office in Southfield, Michigan
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Drive the development of interior systems from concept through launch, ensuring designs meet safety, quality, cost, and customer expectations.
- Deliver key engineering outputs—including CAD, DFMEA, BOMs, design reviews, customer submissions, and issue resolution—on time and with exceptional accuracy.
- Partner with technicians, designers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams to solve problems, close open issues, and keep programs moving with confidence.
- Apply strong analytical and engineering tools (FMEA, VA/VE, design reviews) to strengthen product robustness and support continuous improvement.
- Leverage project management systems to track progress, prepare clear documentation, support toll‑gates, and contribute to hitting program KPIs.
What you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a plastic part or related engineering field (4–7 years experience) or a Master’s degree (3–6 years experience); relevant certifications are a plus.
- Strong capability with engineering and office software tools (CAD – NX mainly, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and integrated applications).
- Excellent communication, organization, and project‑coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast‑moving environment.
- A commitment to producing clear, accurate technical documentation and maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company requirements.
- The ability to successfully complete standard pre‑employment screenings and work effectively across cross‑functional teams.
Other skills that we would welcome:
Multilingual abilities—especially English paired with Spanish, Japanese, or Chinese—to support global collaboration and customer interactions.
Experience with fast‑paced innovation or short‑sprint development projects, ideally within automotive or consumer product environments.
A special interest in any area of plastics; injection molding, soft‑trim, or other key interior technologies used in automotive component manufacturing.
What does this position offer you:
Fast-paced yet supportive and high-performing international team with an inspiring ambition to transform the future of mobility.
Support in onboarding and further training that will set you up with Marelli's speed.
