Project Engineer/Project Manager

Forte and Tablada has an open position for a Project Engineer with 4 - 15 years of experience. Engineer Interns who have passed the PE exam and are on track to obtain their PE license within the next 6 months may be considered based on prior experience. The employee in this position will primarily work on Bridge projects across Louisiana, including Load Ratings, Design, Rehabilitation, and Inspections. Work will be performed with Professional Engineers and Engineer Interns in the Bridge Group, as well as the Roadway Group. The candidate must have a background in Bridge Engineering. Experience with Bridge Inspection and Load Rating is preferred. An ability to work on several projects with multiple team members is a must.

Daily duties will vary greatly based on experience and from project to project. The following types of projects and associated tasks can be anticipated:

• Load ratings of new and existing bridges;
• Bridge design and coordination with project team to develop plans for bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects;
• Inspection, documentation of deficiencies, and recommended repairs for existing bridges;
• Construction observation;
• Determination of construction cost estimates.
• Based on experience, Project Manager duties include:
• Project scoping and preparation of proposals and contracts;
• Managing scope, schedule, budget, and team performance;
• Communication with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and the general public;
• Performing quality control review of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

To be considered, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program;
• Engineer Intern or Professional Engineer registration with the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS);
• Passed the Professional Engineer examination;
• Experience with bridge design;
• A positive attitude and an ability to work well on diverse teams, with all levels of internal management, and clients;
• Strong verbal, written, and graphical communication skills;
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word;
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and documents;
• Valid driver’s license; job will require travel to off-site locations intermittently.

Preferred Experience

Candidates that exhibit the following skills are preferred:

• Past bridge load rating and inspection experience;
• Prior hands on experience - the position will require inspecting existing bridges and structures. The use of hand tools, ladders, aerial lifts, etc. can be expected;
• Experience with AASHTOWare BrR, Bentley OpenBridge (LEAP), Mathcad, AutoCAD, and Microstation.
