Job Specification – Project Estimator
Calshot is a bespoke restoration and manufacturing business located at James’ Wharf in Southampton. We have been responsible for crafting, restoring and repurposing an array of historical and vintage items. All works, including the construction of artisan furniture or restoration of vehicles and vessels, are completed on site in a way that honours tradition, craftsmanship and quality. As a group we are continually developing and work in a truly unique environment. The business is currently undertaking significant projects in London, across the UK and abroad.
We are looking for an experienced Project Estimator to join our team in Southampton. The successful candidate will have responsibility of producing end-to-end financial quotes for high end refurbishment and fit-out projects. Liaising with clients, architects, designers and the workforce, this role will help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to be part of a busy and progressive company!
Core responsibilities to include but not be limited to:
- Prepare accurate and commercially robust quotes for high-end refurbishment and fit-out projects, from initial feasibility through to tender submission
- Be the point of contact for all tender documents and quotes
- Research, source and negotiate the best prices from suppliers
- Analyse design information and identify discrepancies, omissions and areas requiring clarification
- Work closely with the design and production teams across various trades
- Attend tender meetings and site visits as required (these could be in the UK or abroad)
- Keep track of cost and specification changes and liaise with clients on any changes suggesting amendments if required
The successful candidate is likely to have a combination of the following:
- Previous estimating experience of projects above £2 million
- An understanding of high-end market trends
- Exceptional communication and client-facing skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with external stakeholders and colleagues across all departments
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills

- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Strong Microsoft skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with a high level of accuracy
- Practical approach to problem solving
- Must be a self-motivated team player, who takes the initiative and deliver work with minimum supervision
Join us to be part of a vibrant team dedicated to delivering exceptional high-end projects through precise planning, innovative solutions and unwavering commitment to excellence. Your expertise will help shape successful projects that meet client expectations while maintaining rigorous cost control standards.
