Help Build Conservation at Scale

Endemic Environmental Services is a growing California environmental consulting firm providing biological resources, habitat restoration, environmental compliance, permitting, construction monitoring, and water-resource services.

Since 2009, our teams have worked alongside public agencies, contractors, utilities, and private clients to help infrastructure and development projects move forward while protecting species, habitats, and natural systems.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Project Estimator to develop accurate, competitive estimates for habitat restoration, construction stormwater services, biological services supporting construction, and other environmental projects throughout California.

This position is ideal for someone who understands how projects are built, enjoys working through plans and numbers, and can turn detailed requirements into practical cost estimates.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will work closely with project managers, technical specialists, Operations, and our Proposal Coordinator. You will lead estimate preparation and pricing recommendations, while the Proposal Coordinator manages proposal documents and submissions.

What You’ll Do

  • Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and site conditions to identify scope and execution requirements.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and detailed estimates using Bluebeam, Excel, and related tools.
  • Estimate labor, production rates, equipment, materials, subcontractors, mobilization, travel, and other project costs.
  • Incorporate prevailing-wage, overtime, union, and project labor agreement requirements into cost assumptions.
  • Request and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes; clarify exclusions, availability, and lead times.
  • Evaluate project risks and recommend contingencies, pricing alternatives, and bid pricing for leadership approval.
  • Provide staffing, equipment, schedule, and execution inputs for proposals.
  • Attend selected pre-bid meetings and site visits.
  • Prepare estimates for change orders and additional work.
  • Hand off awarded estimates to project teams, explaining assumptions, resources, budgets, and risks.
  • Compare estimates with actual project results and maintain historical cost information.
  • Maintain estimating deadlines and bid activity in Monday.com.

What We’re Looking For

  • Three or more years of relevant estimating, construction management, or project-cost experience.
  • Experience with landscape construction, habitat restoration, public works, civil/site work, or a related field.
  • Ability to read construction plans and specifications and prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with Bluebeam or comparable takeoff software.
  • Understanding of labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and production costs.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear documentation of assumptions.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and communicate effectively with technical staff, vendors, and project teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to work regularly in Fullerton and travel to California project sites as needed.

Experience with California prevailing-wage requirements, Caltrans projects, construction stormwater services, change-order pricing, or native landscape restoration is especially helpful.

Benefits

  • Tenure-Based Health Benefits
  • Employer-paid Medical Premiums Scale from 50% up to 100% by year 5.
  • Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance.
  • 401(k) with a 4% Company match.
  • Scaling Paid Time Off, Paid Sick Leave, and Paid Holidays.
  • FSA - Flexible Spending Account
  • HSA - Health Savings Account
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Company-sponsored events.
  • Employee Assistance Program.

If you enjoy building reliable estimates and want your work to support California’s habitats and natural resources, we encourage you to apply!
