What they need

BA Systems is looking to recruit a Project Installation Supervisor to support the successful delivery of our balustrade, handrail and architectural metalwork projects.

This is a site-based supervisory role with responsibility for coordinating and driving installation activities across assigned projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will ensure that installation teams have the information, materials and access required to work efficiently, safely and to the required quality standard.

The role would suit an experienced balustrade, handrail or architectural metalwork installer who is ready to take greater responsibility for supervising installation teams and managing day-to-day site delivery.

The Project Installation Supervisor will act as the key link between our Project Managers, installation teams, subcontractors and the client’s site team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day installation of BA Systems’ works across assigned projects.
  • Coordinate directly employed and subcontract installation teams, ensuring labour is appropriately planned and productive.
  • Work with the Project Manager to understand programme requirements, priorities and upcoming installation activities.
  • Plan installation activities ahead of time, identifying requirements for labour, materials, access, plant, drawings and information.
  • Ensure installation teams are working from the correct and latest approved drawings and information.
  • Monitor progress against programme and provide clear, regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Identify potential delays, access restrictions, missing materials, design issues or other constraints early and escalate them promptly.
  • Monitor installation productivity and help ensure works are delivered within agreed labour and cost allowances.
  • Carry out quality inspections throughout installation rather than relying solely on completion inspections.
  • Complete required quality records, photographs, sign-offs and client QA documentation.
  • Coordinate snagging and ensure defects are closed out promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, presentation and housekeeping.
  • Ensure installation activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with RAMS, site requirements and BA Systems procedures.
  • Attend site meetings, coordination meetings and inspections where required.
  • Build effective working relationships with client site teams and other trades.
  • Provide practical installation knowledge and hands-on support where required to resolve site issues.
  • Support surveys, setting-out checks and pre-installation inspections where required.
  • Assist the Project Manager with practical assessment of variations, additional works and site-related changes.
  • Ensure completed areas are properly handed over and outstanding works or defects are clearly recorded.
  • Represent BA Systems professionally on site and deliver a high standard of customer service.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum two years’ practical experience installing balustrades, handrails, architectural metalwork or similar systems.
  • Good understanding of construction site installation processes.
  • Experience working to construction programmes and deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
  • Confident supervising and coordinating installation teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong practical problem-solving ability.
  • Good understanding of installation quality and acceptable workmanship standards.
  • Organised and able to manage several work fronts and priorities.
  • Confident communicating with Project Managers, installers, subcontractors and client site teams.
  • Comfortable challenging poor workmanship or productivity where necessary.
  • Basic IT skills, including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • CSCS Supervisor Card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to travel, predominantly throughout London and the South East.

Desirable

  • Previous experience with balustrade, handrail, balcony or architectural metalwork systems.
  • Experience working on high-rise residential developments.
  • Experience using electronic quality management and client sign-off systems.
  • Experience coordinating subcontract installation teams.
  • Understanding of fixings, substrates, tolerances and setting-out requirements.
