What they need
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Management Engineer specializing in Data Center Construction to join our team. The candidate will play a critical role in leading, planning, executing, and overseeing high-availability Data Center construction projects (Greenfield/Brownfield) from inception to commissioning. The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering expertise with project management excellence to ensure Data Center facilities are built safely, on time, within budget, and compliant with international standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942, LEED).
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Project Planning & Strategy: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, design consultants, and architects to define Data Center construction objectives, scope, technical specifications, and milestones. Develop master project schedules, baseline budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Project Execution & Site Management: Lead and oversee day-to-day construction activities on-site. Manage main contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure strict adherence to engineering designs, structural standards, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) integration.
- MEP & Infrastructure Oversight: Supervise critical Data Center infrastructure installations, including high-voltage power distribution, UPS systems, generators, precision cooling/HVAC, fire suppression, and BMS/DCIM systems.
- Commissioning & Quality Assurance: Implement comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs. Manage the commissioning process (Level 1 to Level 5) to ensure all critical systems meet operational resilience and performance requirements prior to handover.
- Risk & EHS Management: Identify site-specific construction and engineering risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies. Enforce strict Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and zero-tolerance safety practices across all construction sites.
- Budget Control & Procurement: Monitor project capital expenditure (CapEx) and cash flow. Review and validate contractor variation orders (VOs), progress claims, and procurement of long-lead critical equipment.
- Stakeholder & Permitting Management: Maintain clear communication with key project stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and local utility providers to secure necessary building permits, power connection approvals, and environmental clearances.
- Documentation & Reporting: Oversee project documentation, including As-Built drawings, Method Statements, Material Submittals, RFI (Request for Information), and regular progress reports for senior executive reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of project management experience in large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects, with a strong focus on Data Center construction, critical facilities, or high-tech manufacturing plants .
- Deep technical knowledge of Data Center physical infrastructure, including civil/structural requirements, MEP systems, power redundancy (N+1, 2N), and precision cooling systems.
- Familiarity with international Data Center standards such as Uptime Institute Tier Standards, TIA-942, BICSI, and LEED certification processes.
- Proficiency in project management and engineering software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, BIM/Revit).
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or Data Center design/management certifications (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, ATD) are an advantage.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, contractor management, and problem-solving skills.
