What they need

PROJECT MANAGER

Position Summary

The Project Manager is an office-centered role responsible for estimating and pricing work, coordinating project resources, administering contracts, and managing project budgets and financial documentation for Forge Civil Group’s earthwork and sitework projects. Working closely with Leadership and Field Supervision, the Project Manager ensures crews have what they need to perform the work safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Primary Responsibilities

Estimating & Pricing

  • Review plans, specifications, bid requirements and addenda; develop takeoffs and estimates for earthwork/sitework scopes.
  • Solicit, evaluate and level subcontractor, trucking and supplier quotations; confirm scope coverage and exclusions.
  • Develop competitive pricing, bid recaps, proposals and change-order estimates for leadership review.

Project Planning & Field Support

  • Translate awarded scope and estimate into budgets, procurement plans, schedules and project startup requirements.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment rentals, trucking, subcontractors, survey, utility locating, testing and inspections so field crews have timely support.
  • Work with the Superintendent and Foremen to anticipate constraints, resolve resource needs and keep commitments on track.

Project Administration & Contract Management

  • Manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, contracts, purchase orders, change-order logs and correspondence.
  • Review scope changes, differing site conditions and field documentation; prepare and pursue timely change-order pricing and approvals.
  • Maintain project records, meeting follow-ups, compliance requirements and closeout packages.

Budget, Job Cost & Accounting Coordination

  • Establish and maintain job budgets and cost codes; monitor labor, equipment, trucking, material and subcontract costs against estimates.
  • Review production quantities, committed costs and cost-to-complete forecasts with the Superintendent and leadership; identify margin risks early.
  • Coordinate invoice coding, purchase-order matching, pay applications, billing backup, lien waivers, collections follow-up and monthly WIP/job-cost reporting with Accounting.

Communication & Accountability

  • Serve as a primary office contact for customers, vendors, subcontractors and the field team on project coordination and commercial matters.
  • Provide leadership with timely updates on bid activity, project budgets, change orders, billing, cash exposure and issues requiring decisions.
  • Direct and delegate project administration tasks to a Project Engineer or coordinator as staffing permits.

Qualifications

Experience estimating or managing civil/sitework or earthwork projects; ability to interpret civil plans, quantities and scopes; strong Excel, job-cost and document-management skills; organized follow-through and effective communication with field teams, clients, suppliers and Accounting.

Measures of Success

Accurate, timely bids; complete scope and subcontractor coverage; field needs anticipated and fulfilled; current budgets and forecasts; prompt change-order submission; accurate, on-time billing; and reliable project records with minimal administrative follow-up.
