Project Manager

Our client is a Building Maintenance & Construction company based in Malaga and servicing Perth Metropolitan, Regional and remote Western Australia. With a reputable name based on trustworthy business, they strive to complete all jobs safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard. The clients are both in the Public and Private sectors: Government, Retail, Commercial, Aged Care, Strata, Industrial, Petroleum Industry, Education, Health and Mining.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Major Works to take ownership of projects from award through to practical completion and final account.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership position suited to an accomplished Project Manager who can independently manage multiple projects, lead supervisors and site teams, and take responsibility for program, cost, quality, safety, client relationships and commercial performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the successful end-to-end delivery of assigned major and minor works projects.
Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing projects from tender handover through to completion and final account
• Developing and managing project programs, budgets and cost forecasts
• Coordinating supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, materials and plant across multiple sites
• Monitoring project progress and proactively managing risks, delays and constraints
• Managing project scope, variations, change orders and commercial outcomes
• Leading and mentoring supervisors and site personnel
• Ensuring compliance with HSEQ, contractual, quality and legislative requirements
• Managing project documentation including SWMS, ITPs, permits and registers
• Acting as the primary client contact and chairing project meetings
• Preparing progress reports, site reports, tenders, quotations and project documentation
• Managing subcontractor and supplier performance, invoices and purchase orders
• Undertaking site inspections and providing practical solutions to project issues

About You

We are looking for an experienced construction professional who is confident taking ownership and making decisions.

Ideally, you will have:

• 5+ years' experience as a Project Manager or Senior Supervisor within construction, maintenance or major works
• Demonstrated experience independently managing projects from commencement to completion
• Strong construction and site knowledge
• Sound commercial acumen across budgeting, forecasting, cost control and variations
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing supervisors, subcontractors and site teams
• Excellent client management, communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
• Experience with reactive maintenance and minor works environments will be highly regarded
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn project management systems

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications include a Trade Certificate, Diploma in Construction and/or Project Management qualification.

You will also require:

• Construction White/Blue Card
• Current C-Class Driver's Licence
• National Police Clearance issued within the last 12 months, or the ability to obtain one
