Project Manager

About the role

Take responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned projects from construction handover through Practical Completion, project close-out, and the Defects Liability Period. The Project Manager controls programme, cost, quality, procurement, and client communication, working closely with the Site Manager to deliver safely and meet agreed project requirements. As an experienced Project Manager, the role operates with a high degree of independence, anticipates problems, makes sound decisions within agreed authority, and brings clear recommendations when escalation is required. The role contributes practical knowledge and support to colleagues while remaining accountable for its own projects.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in handover from pre-construction and confirm understanding of scope, budget, programme, contract requirements, client commitments, and key risks
• Create and maintain the project programme in Buildertrend, covering trade activities, procurement, approvals, inspections, commissioning, and handover
• Manage assigned projects against agreed scope, programme, budget, and quality requirements
• Provide daily support and clear project direction to the Site Manager and visit sites regularly, normally two to three times per week
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal specialists to maintain progress
• Maintain an accurate view of project budget, committed costs, actual expenditure, and forecast cost to complete
• Arrange project purchasing and subcontractor appointments within approved project budgets and company approval procedures
• Identify and record changes to scope promptly, obtain costings, and assess effects on programme, resources, and delivery
• Coordinate site measurements and review cabinetry, furniture, fittings, equipment, and feature-item shop drawings for project requirements
• Act as the principal day-to-day project contact for the client and chair weekly Project Control Group meetings

About you

• Substantial, demonstrated experience independently delivering construction or fitout projects from planning through completion and defects management
• A proven record of controlling programmes, budgets, procurement, subcontractors, and client relationships
• Strong practical construction knowledge and ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
• Sound understanding of project financial forecasting, variations, claims, and commercial risks
• Ability to coordinate Site Managers and subcontractors effectively
• Clear written and verbal communication and confidence leading client meetings
• Strong organisation, attention to detail, and judgement under pressure
• Competence with project management systems and willingness to use Buildertrend consistently
• Positive attitude and willingness to grow yourself and develop further construction knowledge specific to the medical fitout industry
• Ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a highly pressurised environment
