What they need
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Project Manager, you’ll own our commercial and industrial electrical projects from contract award through closeout. You’ll lead field teams, keep customers informed and confident, control schedules and costs, and make sure every job is delivered safely, on time, and profitably. You are accountable for the overall performance and profitability of every job you run. This is a hands-on leadership role for a field-tested electrical professional who is ready to run the whole job, not just a piece of it.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead and Develop the Team
- Direct assigned project personnel, including foremen, journeymen, and apprentices.
- Staff each job with the right people and labor classifications to hit progress goals; make work assignments and set clear expectations with crews and leads.
- Review and approve time-off and vacation requests against schedule and workload, and authorize overtime as needed to meet project goals.
- Provide input and recommendations on transfers, layoffs, recalls, and other staffing changes.
- Recognize strong performance and address issues in line with company policy. Coordinate disciplinary steps with the Director of HR and Director of Operations.
- Make sure every team member knows and follows safety rules and all company and project policies.
Plan and Launch Projects
- Review the contract after award, confirm any addenda or alternates that affect scope or cost, and make sure bonds, insurance, and permits are requested and submitted.
- Lead the project Turnover Meeting using the Turnover Meeting Agenda Checklist, then build a sequenced work plan with the materials, tools, and resources each phase requires.
- Align the project schedule with the general contractor, field supervision, and the Director of Operations.
- Drive a clean job start-up using the Job Start-up Checklist: site ready, supervision assigned, crew staffed, materials and rental equipment on site, and the foreman equipped with all required job books and documents.
- Partner with the Prefab Manager throughout the project to maximize use of prefabrication.
Drive Execution and Job Performance
- Own the results: Hold full accountability for overall job performance and profitability on every assigned project, including schedule, budget, labor productivity, quality, and margin.
- Set job progress goals and actively monitor schedule, budget, quality, and productivity throughout the project.
- Support field leadership daily: answer questions, obtain clarifications on scope, changes, and specifications, and remove roadblocks.
- Review the foreman’s weekly and 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Resolve issues between the customer or general contractor and our field team when they can’t be settled on site.
- Price, process, and follow up on all change orders promptly; make sure extra work is approved, signed off, completed, and billed.
- Own the Customer Relationship
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, building long-term relationships with current and past clients.
- Meet with customers to understand their needs, answer questions, and resolve problems quickly.
- Document key conversations and decisions and send written follow-up to the customer to confirm them.
- Connect customers with our service sales team at project completion to support ongoing service work.
Manage Procurement
- Work with the vendors to procure all project materials and equipment on time to avoid delays.
- Act with urgency on purchasing needs and maintain strong, professional relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Communicate and Coordinate
- Lead or attend all key project meetings, including pre-construction and initial walk-through, turnover, weekly progress, subcontractor, safety, issue resolution, and final inspection.
- Make sure the company is represented and documented at every required job meeting.
- Keep the Director of Operations informed of anything that could affect profitability, planning, or performance.
- Respond promptly to calls, emails, and inquiries from customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Close Out Strong
- Plan and coordinate closeout with field supervision using the Job Completion Guidelines and Checklist (O&Ms, change orders, punch list, and more).
- Lead a post-project review to capture lessons learned and improve future performance.
- Partner with the Project Coordinator to keep accurate project records, including estimates, cost data, correspondence, meeting notes, and job reviews.
WHAT YOU BRING

- At least 4 years in a supervisory or crew leadership role.
- Solid working knowledge of electrical construction methods and change orders.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and experience with electrical estimating software.
- Strong communication and people skills, with the confidence to set expectations and hold teams accountable.
- A sense of urgency, strong organization, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Journeyman Electrician License.
- Experience with Accubid software.
- Involvement in local industry associations and a professional network in the market.
