About the Opportunity As the Project Manager for the Landing Craft - Heavy Project under Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you'll be responsible for overseeing project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, reporting, and governance activities. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager and Senior Program Manager, you will provide leadership across the Project Management Office, ensuring accurate forecasting, performance monitoring, and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Acting as the Control Account Manager for the PMO and Risk Champion for the project, you will drive strong performance controls, foster a proactive risk management culture, and support the achievement of contractual, financial, and operational objectives.

What's Involved

• Lead PMO governance activities, ensuring compliance with program management frameworks and reporting requirements
• Oversee project controls including cost, schedule, forecasting, and performance measurement
• Act as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for the PMO, supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) implementation and reporting
• Monitor program performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and drive corrective actions where required
• Support the development, maintenance, and analysis of integrated project schedules and critical path activities
• Drive financial performance through budget oversight, forecasting, and cost management activities
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, customers, and project teams
• Promote continuous improvement by enhancing PMO processes, capturing lessons learned, and supporting best-practice project delivery

You'll Need

• Diploma or Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business or related discipline
• Formal project management training or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of Earned Value Management System principles and application
• Sound understanding of project controls disciplines, including scheduling, cost control and performance measurement
• Experience working within Defence acquisition, sustainment or complex project environments
• Understanding of ASDEFCON and Defence contracting frameworks
• Experience working with ERP systems, preferably IFS.
• Competent using scheduling systems, preferably Primavera P6
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
