JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager is the entry-level role within the Program Management career path and supports new build and repair/re-fit projects from initiation through completion. This role works closely with Program Managers and Sr. Program Managers to coordinate project activities, track budget and schedule performance, and help ensure production, engineering, supply chain, and operations teams remain aligned to project requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Program Managers and Sr. Program Managers in coordinating assigned new build and repair/re-fit projects by helping define scope, objectives, schedules, and key deliverables.
  • Assist with gathering project requirements, researching manpower, equipment, and material needs, and maintaining project records with attention to budget and schedule targets.
  • Help drive project start-up activities by submitting and following up on design requests, engineering requests, vendor quote requests, code compliance checks, and other required project tasks.
  • Maintain project schedules, track intermediate milestones, and communicate status updates, risks, delays, and changes to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Compile and update reports that improve visibility of labor, material, and rework costs compared with estimates.
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and communication of project processes, production workflows, and standard work instructions in alignment with engineering and project specifications.
  • Monitor project execution through routine follow-up and audits to help ensure processes, schedules, and quality requirements are being met.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, IT, and external vendors, to help resolve issues and keep assigned work moving forward.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts, lessons learned, and project closeout activities to support continuous improvement and career development within Program Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, internships, co-op experience, or early career experience in manufacturing, construction, marine, or other project-based environments will be considered.
  • Demonstrated interest in project or program management, production planning, operations, or cross-functional business coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, production, purchasing, and other business functions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required; experience with ERP, scheduling, or project tracking systems is preferred.
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities, follow through on action items, and adapt to changes in schedules, scope, and project requirements.
  • Marine, yacht building, manufacturing, or construction experience, and project management training or certification, are helpful but not required.

MANAGES / DIRECT REPORTS: This position has no direct reports.

COMMUNICATION: The Project Manager must communicate positively and effectively, in both written and verbal form, with co-workers, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders, and escalate issues appropriately to Program Managers and Sr. Program Managers as needed.

DECISION MAKING:

Exercise sound judgment consistent with Burger’s mission, vision, and code of business conduct. Make appropriate day-to-day decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities, elevate higher-risk or higher-impact issues when needed, and take ownership for the quality and timeliness of assigned work.
