What they need
ABOUT PECO
Process Engineering & Equipment Company (PECO) is a full-service designer, manufacturer, and distributor of engineered industrial fluid equipment for mission-critical HVAC and industrial applications. Operating from our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility with approximately 40 employees, PECO is known for engineered systems, fabricated skid packages, and pump repair and assembly. Our large engineered projects have doubled year over year, and we are adding a Project Manager to own them end to end.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager is the quarterback of every project at PECO. From RFQ or PO through final delivery, this role owns the job — developing the concept and P&ID, creating the bill of material, quoting and ordering vendor components, building and holding the schedule, managing submittals and change orders, and serving as the customer's primary point of contact. A mechanical engineer by background, the Project Manager is the hub connecting engineering, inside sales, outside sales, manufacturing, and the customer — keeping the voice of the customer inside the building and every job moving on time and on budget. This role exists so our sales team can sell and our engineers can engineer.
WHAT YOU OWN — RFQ OR PO THROUGH DELIVERY
- Project ownership — Take the handoff at RFQ or PO and own the job through final delivery as the single point of accountability.
- Concept and P&ID — Develop the project concept and produce P&ID sketches that define the system.
- Quoting and ordering — Quote the project, source and order vendor components and equipment, and manage vendor commitments.
- Schedule — Build and maintain the project schedule; track lead times, approvals, and deliverables, and escalate early.
- Submittals, change orders, and cost — Own the submittal package, manage change orders through to invoicing, and protect job cost and margin.
- Customer interface — Serve as the primary customer contact through execution on status, approvals, and changes.
WHO YOU WORK WITH
- Engineering — Hand off for detailed design, 3D models, and fabrication drawings; keep technical work aligned to the schedule.
- Inside Sales — Coordinate quoting, order entry, parts, and order status.
- Manufacturing and the shop — Align the build schedule, resolve issues, and confirm delivery.
- Outside Sales — Take a clean handoff at order and keep the relationship owner informed.
- Customers and vendors — Drive communication, approvals, documentation, and expediting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years in project management, engineered equipment, or an industrial OEM environment.
- Broad, adaptable technical background — pumps, motors, fluid systems, and heat transfer; comfortable across product lines rather than a single catalog.
- Able to create and interpret P&IDs and read mechanical drawings.
- Experience positively leading and/or influencing people and cross functional teams
- Experience with ERP / order systems and managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong communicator — equally comfortable with customers, vendors, engineers, and the shop floor; organized, proactive, and detail-driven.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Projects ship on time, on budget, and to spec — with no surprises at invoicing.
- Sales spends roughly 70% of its time selling; engineering stays on design, not expediting or chasing, ordering materials and projects.
- One person always knows the status of every active project.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
