Contract: Full-time
Salary: £55,000
Ref: 41265
About:
My client specialises in designing and delivering spectacular corporate and private parties, weddings and international productions. The company combines contemporary design thinking with five-star standards, delivering exceptional events and creative productions for an extensive portfolio of clients.
About the Role:
The company is seeking an experienced and highly organised Scenic Project Manager to join its growing Scenic Team. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the realities of scenic production and can confidently coordinate projects in collaboration with the sales and production teams. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects of varying sizes, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards, while maintaining the creative vision and meeting client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage scenic projects from the initial brief and quotation through design, fabrication, installation and de-rig, acting as the central point of contact and ensuring effective communication across all departments.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and production plans, coordinating designers, fabricators, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure key milestones are achieved.
Review technical drawings, specifications, materials, finishes and construction details to ensure they meet project requirements and the creative vision.
Manage supplier and subcontractor quotations, negotiate costs where appropriate, monitor expenditure and proactively identify risks, cost overruns and potential delivery issues, escalating concerns to the Head of Scenic when necessary.
Work closely with the Scenic Operations Manager to coordinate procurement, materials, specialist services, crew requirements and transport.
Attend site visits, production meetings and project installations or de-rigs as required, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to schedule.
Ensure health and safety requirements are met, including risk assessments, method statements and site-specific procedures, while maintaining accurate project documentation, budgets, schedules and reports through company systems.
Manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple projects, taking a proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach to resolving challenges and maintaining high standards of delivery.
About You:
You will have a strong understanding of scenic production and the ability to manage projects from concept through to completion. They will be highly organised, commercially aware and confident working collaboratively with creative, technical and operational teams.
You will ideally bring:
Proven project management experience within scenic construction, fabrication, events, exhibitions, experiential, film and television, or a related production environment, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, suppliers and subcontractors, alongside a good understanding of scenic construction methods, materials, finishes and installation processes.
The ability to interpret technical drawings and production information. Knowledge of AutoCAD or other technical drawing software would be advantageous.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with internal teams, clients and external partners.
Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate risks, manage costs and remain calm under pressure.
A sound understanding of health and safety within production, workshop and installation environments, alongside proficiency in project management systems and standard office software.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and reliable project manager who combines technical understanding with strong organisational skills and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality scenic projects.
