Project Manager

Project Manager, Safety Uplift Program Perth (southern suburbs), WA | 12-month contract | Immediate start | Australian Citizenship and active Baseline security clearance required

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery of a large safety improvement program for a major Defence organisation.

The program focuses on safety culture, safety systems and processes, risk management capability, and safety practices that last across the business. You'll be responsible for planning, governance and delivery across multiple workstreams. You'll report to a senior WHS leader.

What you'll be doing

• Building and maintaining the program delivery plan, schedule, milestones, dependencies and critical path
• Coordinating delivery across multiple workstreams and improvement initiatives
• Managing the program budget, forecasting and reporting
• Setting up and running governance, including steering committee and working group meetings
• Preparing executive reports, status updates and decision papers
• Working with operational leaders, safety teams, sponsors and subject matter experts
• Maintaining risk and issue registers and managing mitigation and escalation
• Coordinating implementation, change readiness and transition planning so operations aren't disrupted
• Managing external suppliers, procurement activities and contract deliverables
• Tracking benefits and outcomes, and leading post-implementation reviews and lessons learned

What we're looking for

• Australian Citizenship and an active Baseline security clearance
• At least 7 years' experience managing complex business transformation, safety, operational improvement or enterprise-wide projects
• Experience implementing a major enterprise ICT system, such as a WHSE, ERP, finance or other complex platform with a large user base
• Proven experience delivering multi-stream programs in large, complex organisations
• Strong planning, scheduling, budgeting and project controls capability
• Experience setting up governance frameworks and managing risks, issues and dependencies
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including running executive and working group forums
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Experience leading multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams
• Clear written and verbal communication, including reports and presentations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Teams

Desirable

• Experience delivering safety improvement, operational risk, compliance or WHS transformation programs
• Understanding of current safety management systems and frameworks
• Background in Defence, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure or other high-risk, regulated industries
• Experience with organisational change, including training and workforce engagement
• Experience delivering safety systems, digital transformation or systems integration projects
• Experience managing multiple related projects, with an understanding of benefits management and portfolio governance
