About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a growing commercial construction organization based in Warren, Michigan. This is a high-visibility opportunity for a construction professional who takes ownership of project execution, financial performance, and customer relationships.

The company specializes in commercial and industrial construction solutions, including perimeter security, fencing, gates, access control, and custom metal fabrication. Projects support a diverse customer base across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, data centers, and large-scale commercial development.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in commercial construction project management, particularly experience working directly with general contractors or managing projects as a specialty subcontractor.

Candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered, with project responsibilities and compensation aligned to their background and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial construction projects from contract award through completion and closeout.
  • Take ownership of project budgets, schedules, profitability, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain financial accountability for assigned projects, including P&L performance, cost forecasting, and gross-margin management.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects, coordinating resources, schedules, and deliverables to meet operational and financial objectives.
  • Manage project scope, change orders, RFIs, and cost impacts to protect profitability and minimize financial exposure.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, project owners, subcontractors, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure successful execution.
  • Plan and coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources to support project schedules.
  • Monitor project performance, identify potential delays or cost overruns, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain proactive communication with customers and internal teams regarding project progress, budgets, risks, and changes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, timely billing, punch-list completion, and successful project closeout.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of construction project management experience within a general contracting, construction management, or commercial subcontracting environment.
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects and working directly with general contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and financial performance.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects, subcontractors, field crews, and construction activities.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Experience with change-order management, cost control, project forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common construction project management software.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing large or complex commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Background in specialty contracting, perimeter security, commercial fencing, structural or architectural metals, or related construction trades.
  • Experience supporting data center, manufacturing, healthcare, or other major commercial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing substantial project portfolios with direct responsibility for profitability and execution.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $110,000–$160,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Performance-based bonus: 15%–20%, depending on position scope and experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to manage significant commercial construction projects in a growing organization.
  • High-visibility role with substantial operational responsibility and opportunities for professional growth.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on construction Project Manager who combines strong operational execution with financial accountability. Successful candidates will be comfortable working directly with general contractors, managing competing project priorities, coordinating field operations, and taking responsibility for project profitability.

Whether your experience is centered on managing a high volume of concurrent commercial projects or delivering larger, more complex construction programs, we welcome candidates with demonstrated project ownership and a track record of successful execution.
