What they need
Project Manager, Power Delivery (Substation, Transmission, Distribution)
Houston, TX | Direct Hire, Full Time | Up to 50% Travel
A national infrastructure services contractor is hiring a Project Manager in Houston to run power delivery projects through the full EPC and design-build cycle. You’ll own the job from early development through closeout.
What you’ll do
- Run projects from development through execution, owning schedule, budget, scope, and client relationships
- Build the initial project schedule with engineering, estimating, project controls, procurement, and construction
- Lead value engineering and constructability reviews
- Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes and schedule exhibits, and drive purchase order and subcontract packages through award
- Own monthly financial reviews, project review reports, and closeouts for management and senior leadership
- Manage RFIs and submittals through the document management system
- Work with Safety on the project-specific safety plan, incident reporting, and investigations
- Track design, procurement, and construction progress and get ahead of problems
- Lead closeout, warranty administration, post-construction cost review, and lessons learned
- Mentor and delegate to Assistant Project Managers on your team
Who should apply
- You’ve managed construction projects with real ownership of cost and schedule, not just coordination
- You understand how engineering, procurement, and construction fit together on an integrated EPC or design-build job
- You’re comfortable writing subcontracts and purchase orders, and you know what belongs in a scope of work
- You can read a cost report and explain a variance to a client or a VP
- You work independently, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly in writing and in person
- You’re comfortable traveling up to 50% as projects require
Strong plus
- Power delivery experience: substation, transmission, or distribution
- Prior EPC or design-build background
- Familiarity with estimating, scheduling, and project management software
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Equivalent work experience or a combination of work and education can substitute.
Not the right fit if
- Your experience is purely administrative project support with no ownership of cost, schedule, or subcontracts
- You’re looking for a fully remote or no-travel role
What you’ll get
- Competitive compensation
- 401(k) through Fidelity with an immediate company match (100% of the first 3% and 50% of the next 3%), always fully vested
- Medical, dental, and vision, including PPO and HDHP options with an employer HSA contribution
- Company-paid short and long term disability, and basic life and AD&D at two times annual earnings
- 10 paid holidays plus an extra day you choose, and paid time off
- Paid parental leave from day one: 12 weeks maternity and 2 weeks paternity
- Professional development and tuition assistance
- Pet insurance, EAP, and an employee discount program
