Project Manager

About the role

BA Systems is looking for a practical, organised Project Manager to manage balustrade and architectural metalwork projects from sales handover through design, manufacture, installation and completion.

You will take responsibility for delivering your projects safely, on time and within budget. Working closely with our design, supply chain and installation teams, you will ensure everyone understands what is required, when it is needed and what could prevent delivery.

The role requires regular site attendance, strong client relationships and a clear understanding of both project progress and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of allocated projects, understanding the contract scope, budget, programme and key risks.
• Prepare and maintain realistic project delivery plans covering surveys, design approvals, procurement, manufacture, deliveries and installation.
• Coordinate internal teams, suppliers and installation subcontractors to keep projects moving and resolve problems promptly.
• Manage the client relationship, attend progress meetings and communicate commitments clearly.
• Confirm site readiness, access arrangements and preceding works before committing deliveries or installation teams.
• Plan and monitor installation resources, progress and quality, working with site supervision to resolve issues and close out snagging.
• Ensure appropriate RAMS, site information and installation documentation are in place.
• Maintain accurate project dates, priorities, progress and actions within our project management systems.
• Provide considered weekly updates, highlighting delays, decisions required and actions to recover the programme.
• Prepare reliable monthly revenue forecasts based on verified progress and achievable delivery plans.
• Review project costs, outstanding commitments and costs to complete, identifying potential overspends early.
• Support payment applications with accurate progress information, records and evidence.
• Identify changes to scope, obtain written instructions and coordinate variation pricing and approval with the commercial team.
• Maintain clear project records and complete project handover and close-out requirements.

About you

You will have experience managing construction projects, ideally within balustrades, architectural metalwork, façades or a similar specialist subcontracting environment.

You should be able to demonstrate:

• Experience coordinating several projects at different stages of delivery.
• An understanding of construction drawings, design approvals and installation requirements.
• Strong planning skills and the confidence to challenge unrealistic dates or incomplete information.
• Commercial awareness, including project budgets, variations and forecasting.
• Clear communication with clients, colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors.
• A proactive approach to resolving problems and following actions through to completion.
• Confidence using Excel and project management systems.
• A practical understanding of construction health and safety.

Direct experience in balustrades or architectural metalwork would be an advantage.

Working arrangements

This is a home-based role with frequent travel to live construction sites and weekly attendance at our North Walsham head office. Occasional overnight stays may be required.

Schedule: Monday to Friday.

Pay: Up to £60,000.00 per year
