A well-established and highly regarded structural steel fabrication and erection contractor is expanding its project management team and is looking to speak with experienced Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.

The Opportunity

Depending on experience, you will take responsibility for managing structural steel projects from contract award through engineering, fabrication, delivery, erection and completion.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing structural steel fabrication and erection projects from start to finish
• Developing and managing project schedules, budgets, procurement plans and resources
• Coordinating with engineering, detailing, fabrication shops, erection crews, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers
• Reviewing structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications and contract documents
• Managing steel fabrication, delivery sequencing, field erection, cranes and material handling
• Monitoring project costs, schedules, progress, change orders and overall performance
• Conducting regular fabrication shop and jobsite visits
• Managing quality control and ensuring work meets project specifications and standards
• Acting as a key point of contact for General Contractors, clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors
• Identifying project risks and resolving issues before they impact cost or schedule
• Leading project meetings and maintaining clear communication across project teams

Senior-Level Responsibilities

For candidates operating at the Senior Project Manager / PM II level, there will also be responsibility for:

• Managing multiple concurrent structural steel projects
• Balancing fabrication capacity, erection crews, cranes and other resources across projects
• Taking ownership of overall project delivery, profitability and client relationships
• Providing leadership and direction to Junior Project Managers
• Reviewing schedules, cost reports, change orders and client correspondence
• Mentoring and developing less-experienced project management professionals

Ideal Background

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:

• 3+ years of construction project management experience for Project Manager-level positions
• 5+ years for Senior Project Manager-level positions
• Strong experience in structural steel fabrication and/or erection
• Experience managing commercial structural steel projects
• Strong understanding of fabrication and erection methods, sequencing and industry practices
• Ability to read and interpret structural and shop drawings
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, costs, change orders and subcontractors
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
• For senior-level candidates, experience managing multiple projects and mentoring junior PMs
• Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related degree preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered
