What they need
The Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) is seeking two organized and customer-focused Project Managers – Septic to manage our Septic Repair and Replacement (R&R) program portfolio from enrollment to completion. The full program portfolio will be split equally across the two positions. This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team in Arkville, NY.
In this role, you will act as the central hub for individual projects, balancing administrative oversight, technical guidance, and direct supervision of field staff. You’ll be the go-to expert for your portfolio – someone who can assess project lifecycles, unblock delays, and drive environmental infrastructure projects forward while safeguarding the pristine West-of-Hudson Watershed.
What You’ll Do
- Manage Project Lifecycles: Structure each assigned septic R&R project into a Project Plan and Gannt Chart and oversee all assigned projects through every project phase - tracking milestones, construction status and deadlines.
- Lead & Support Staff: Directly supervise 1–2 Program Field Specialists, setting expectations, guiding daily assignments, and supporting professional development.
- Be the Point of Contact: Guide property owners smoothly through program requirements, timelines, and next steps.
- Coordinate Stakeholders: Collaborate closely with engineers and contractors to track design deliverables, review quotes, verify scopes, and solve roadblocks.
- Handle Financials & Approvals: Review and verify contractor quotes, perform take-offs, and review payment vouchers.
- Conduct Field Inspections: Coordinate site visits and detailed field reports.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Science, Engineering (or equivalent) plus 4+ years of experience in project management, construction administration, or environmental engineering support. PMP® certification preferred but not required.
- Project Management and Technical Aptitude: Strong proficiency in defining and documenting project scope and deliverables in project management software (e.g., MS Planner, SmartSheets). Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to read construction documents and engineering designs and demonstrable understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction and environmental/natural resources management.
- Communication & Organization: Exceptional communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Leadership Skills: Experience or a strong readiness to supervise and mentor staff.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the West-of-Hudson Watershed geography, towns, and reservoirs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsites in all types of weather.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License required for travel to job sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
