What they need

Want real ownership of your projects, direct access to decision-makers and a team that backs you when it counts?

Aurora Project Group has been delivering complex commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects across Western Australia since 2009. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join our Perth team.

We're also open to applications from developing Project Managers and experienced Senior Contract Administrators ready to take the next step into project management. Your project allocation, responsibilities and level of support will reflect your experience, capability and ambition.

About the role

You’ll lead projects from tender handover through to practical completion and close-out, taking responsibility for delivery, programme, commercial performance and safety.

Working closely with our Managing Director, Construction Director, Site Managers and Contract Administrators, you’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, alongside support from the wider team.

Our projects span commercial offices, hospitality, retail, healthcare, education and aged care, primarily through lump sum fit-out and refurbishment contracts.

For an established Senior PM, this is an opportunity to lead delivery, develop others and contribute to how we improve as a business. For someone stepping up, it’s an opportunity to build broader project leadership skills with guidance from experienced colleagues.

What you'll be doing

Delivery & Programme

  • Lead projects from tender handover through construction, practical completion, commissioning and close-out.
  • Develop and drive project programmes, critical milestones and look-ahead planning.
  • Anticipate design requirements, approvals, long-lead items and other constraints before they affect construction.
  • Align design, procurement, subcontractor engagement and construction sequencing with the programme.
  • Identify programme slippage early and implement practical recovery strategies, following through on actions and deadlines.

Commercial

  • Take ownership of project profitability through strong budget management, forecasting and cost control.
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiations, subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Manage head contract obligations, notices, claims, extensions of time, disputes and contractual risks.
  • Oversee client and subcontractor variations and progress claims, protecting Aurora’s commercial position.
  • Maintain accurate financial reporting and project records, and drive timely financial close-out.

WHS, Quality & Compliance

  • Lead the project’s safety culture and set clear expectations across the team.
  • Ensure Aurora’s WHS systems, processes and project requirements are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure quality inspections, testing, defects rectification and handover documentation are completed.
  • Review safety implications as scopes, sequencing and site conditions change.
  • Identify and manage key risks, monitor subcontractor performance and escalate issues where required.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and mentor Contract Administrators, Project Coordinators and Site Teams, supporting their development.
  • Set clear responsibilities, priorities and expectations, and hold the team accountable to agreed outcomes.
  • Lead client and consultant meetings, manage expectations and maintain strong relationships throughout delivery.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and keep projects moving.
  • Make timely decisions, raise issues early and contribute to improvements in project delivery.

About you

We’re looking for someone with energy, ambition and the drive to make things happen. You take the initiative, pick up the phone, build relationships and keep people moving towards a clear outcome.

You’re confident leading conversations and making decisions, while being fair, approachable and willing to listen. You set high standards, follow through on commitments and bring the team with you.

Our preference is for an experienced PM or Senior PM with a strong track record in commercial construction, fit-out or refurbishment. You’ll bring:

  • Strong programme management, construction sequencing and forward-planning skills.
  • Sound commercial judgement and an understanding of contracts, procurement, forecasting and variations.
  • The ability to lead people, communicate clearly and hold others accountable.
  • A practical understanding of site delivery, safety and quality requirements.
  • Initiative, sound decision-making and ownership of your commitments.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to identify and address issues early.

Ready to step up?

If you’re a developing PM or Senior CA seeking your first PM role, we’d also like to hear from you. You’ll need a solid grounding in commercial construction, strong contract administration skills and evidence of taking responsibility beyond your current role.

We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate involvement in programme coordination, procurement, client communication and working closely with site teams, with the drive to grow into a senior project management role over time.

Relevant construction or project management qualifications are highly regarded. Experience with Procore, Breadcrumb, and Jobpac would be advantageous.

Why Aurora

We take pride in our work and enjoy the people we work with. Aurora is a relaxed, social workplace where the directors are approachable, people back each other and there’s room for a laugh.

We’re looking for someone who wants to get involved, bring ideas and play an active part in the team. You’ll have the autonomy to lead your projects, support when you need it and the opportunity to influence how we do things.

  • Direct access to the directors and a team that works through challenges together.
  • Realistic project loads, established systems and practical support.
  • Varied commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects across a range of sectors.
  • Team events, a casual office atmosphere and flexibility around personal commitments.
  • Opportunities to develop, mentor others and take on greater responsibility as we grow.
  • Position level and remuneration that reflect your experience and capability.

How to apply

Please apply through SEEK with your resume and a cover letter in PDF format explaining why you’re interested in joining Aurora Project Group. If you’re stepping into project management, tell us why you’re ready for that next step.

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete Aurora’s Pre-Interview Questionnaire before attending an interview.
