What they need

Moran Iron Works values people as individuals – not as “workers” or “staff.” We create goals and plans for professional and personal growth, recognizing that not everyone is the same, and that there’s greatness in differences.

We believe our company’s success is a direct result of our passion for doing great work and taking on the responsibility and accountability to do what it takes to have our customers be more than satisfied with their fabrication orders. When our clients make a purchase order, they know they are getting the professionalism, experience, knowledge, and skill that Moran Iron Works is known for. As our Project Manager, you will play a vital role in upholding that standard every day.

Job Purpose

The Project Manager is responsible for managing complex heavy industrial fabrication projects from award through successful completion. This role ensures that all safety, quality, schedule, and budgetary objectives are meticulously met. By establishing clear execution plans and bridging communication between estimating handoffs, internal shop teams, and external stakeholders, the Project Manager drives operational efficiency, maintains strict documentation compliance, and ensures exceptional customer satisfaction on every order.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training project support personnel to expand department capability.
  • Assign daily project workloads, evaluate team performance, resolve operational issues, and actively support the professional development of your team.

Financial Oversight & Project Controls

  • Conduct regular financial reviews of active projects, monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) data, and analyze overall project performance metrics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact, facilitating transparent communication, meetings, and updates between customers, internal teams, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Maintain precise project documentation, change-order logs, and status reports utilizing core enterprise platforms.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED (Minimum requirement; what matters most to us is your actual hands-on experience and capability).
  • Demonstrated project management or supervisory experience managing complex projects within a heavy industrial fabrication, manufacturing, or structural steel environment.
  • Proven capacity to interpret project financials, track WIP, manage multi-tier project schedules, and coordinate complex shipping logistics.
  • Technical proficiency in standard project management software, accounting links, and drafting viewer tools, including Microsoft Project, QuickBooks, AutoCAD, Adobe, Structural Steel Manager, and 3D Viewers.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience acting as an Industrial Project Manager, Estimator, or Operations Lead within an AISC-certified heavy steel fabrication, pressure vessel, or industrial marine shipyard environment.
