ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Kazana Group is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the launch of a new savings and credit cooperative in Ethiopia. The SACCO will offer members digital savings, credit and a growing set of member benefits, running on a platform we are building in house.

We need a hands-on professional with SACCO experience to lead the set-up, build and launch from day one.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead the end-to-end launch plan: registration, bylaws, the founding general assembly, the pilot and scale-up.

• Design and set up operations: membership, savings and share management, Equb, lending policy and procedures, collections, reporting and internal controls.

• Act as the SACCO expert for our tech team. Translate operational and regulatory requirements into product requirements, and test what gets built.

• Manage the build and launch timeline, budget and workstreams across internal teams and external partners.

• Coordinate member recruitment and onboarding, and work with partners on member benefits such as telecom, insurance and partner discounts.

• Liaise with the Ethiopian Cooperative Commission and city cooperative offices, legal counsel, auditors and the partner bank.

• Prepare reports for management and, once the SACCO is formed, for its board.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5+ years in SACCOs, MFIs or cooperative finance, with direct experience setting up or running SACCO operations.

• A strong working knowledge of Ethiopian cooperative law, including Proclamation No. 985/2016, and the registration process.

• Experience working with technology teams on core banking, mobile money or fintech products. You don't need to code, but you know what good looks like.

• A track record of managing projects with multiple stakeholders, tight timelines and budgets.

• A degree in finance, accounting, cooperative studies, business or a related field.

• Fluency in Amharic and English. Afaan Oromo is a plus.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with credit scoring, digital lending or Equb products.

• Experience growing a membership base or running member engagement programmes.

• PMP or a similar project management certification.
