Project Manager - Control Systems

We're recruiting a Project Manager for a well-established system integrator and provider of engineering services. This position will be hybrid between the office the Manchester area and client sites as and when needed.

The Opportunity:

You'll be responsible for managing multiple projects involving PLC control systems, electrical control panels and integrated automation solutions, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working alongside customers, design engineers, software engineers, panel builders and commissioning teams, you'll coordinate all aspects of project delivery while maintaining strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full project lifecycle from customer enquiry through to final commissioning and handover.
• Lead the delivery of PLC control system and electrical control panel projects.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets and resource plans.
• Coordinate internal engineering teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to customers and stakeholders.
• Manage project risks, scope changes and commercial considerations.
• Ensure projects meet quality, safety and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate FAT, SAT, installation and commissioning activities.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure successful project outcomes.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience managing projects within industrial automation, control systems or electrical engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of PLC-based control systems and automation technologies.
• Experience delivering electrical control panel design and build projects.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, resources and customer expectations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.

Desirable Experience:

• Siemens, Rockwell or Mitsubishi PLC platforms.
• SCADA and HMI systems.
• Control system integration projects.
• Electrical installation and commissioning.
• AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• FAT and SAT activities.
• Manufacturing, process, utilities or industrial engineering sectors.
• PRINCE2, APM or similar project management qualifications.
