What they need

Deck/Patio Project Manager

Durante Home Exteriors | Full-Time

Join Our Production Management Team!

Durante Home Exteriors (DHE) is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Deck/Project Project Manager to oversee residential deck construction projects from initial field measurements through final installation and customer satisfaction.

This position is ideal for someone who combines hands-on construction knowledge with strong organizational, leadership, and customer communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, managing installation crews, ensuring construction quality, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

At Durante Home Exteriors, we believe successful project management requires more than simply getting the job done. It requires proactive planning, attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to doing things right the first time.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Manage residential deck construction projects from initial remeasure through installation, completion, and final payment.
  • Coordinate project milestones, material procurement, permitting, installation scheduling, and customer communication.
  • Maintain accurate project records, schedules, and progress updates using company software platforms.
  • Anticipate potential delays, identify solutions, and keep projects moving efficiently.

Field Measurements & Construction Planning

  • Conduct on-site project remeasures to verify dimensions, site conditions, contract specifications, and installation requirements.
  • Develop detailed deck construction drawings, including framing, foundations, decking, railings, and other structural components.
  • Prepare accurate material takeoffs and installation scopes for each project.
  • Ensure project plans comply with applicable building codes, manufacturer specifications, and permitting requirements.

Installation Crew Management

  • Coordinate and assign qualified installation crews to individual projects.
  • Communicate project expectations, construction specifications, schedules, and installation requirements.
  • Conduct jobsite visits to monitor workmanship, project progress, and quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve field challenges while maintaining positive working relationships with installation partners.

Materials & Cost Management

  • Prepare detailed material lists and labor estimates to ensure accurate project costing.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal personnel to ensure materials are ordered correctly and available when needed.
  • Monitor project expenses and protect established company profit margins.
  • Assist with inventory management and proper allocation of warehouse materials.

Customer Communication & Satisfaction

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners throughout the production and installation process.
  • Clearly communicate project expectations, timelines, construction details, and scheduling updates.
  • Address customer questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs, coordinate punch-list corrections, and ensure successful project completion.

Project Completion & Accountability

  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure completed projects meet company workmanship and quality standards.
  • Coordinate final completion paperwork, warranty information, and collection activities with the Production Coordinator.
  • Take ownership of project performance, customer satisfaction, and timely completion.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

We're looking for someone who:

  • Thinks Ahead: Anticipates challenges and plans the next steps before problems arise.
  • Pays Attention to Details: Understands that accurate measurements, drawings, and material orders are critical to successful installations.
  • Takes Ownership: Accepts responsibility for project outcomes rather than simply managing individual tasks.
  • Communicates Effectively: Builds trust with homeowners, installation partners, and fellow team members.
  • Understands the Numbers: Recognizes the importance of controlling costs, protecting margins, and completing projects efficiently.
  • Values Quality: Takes pride in workmanship, customer satisfaction, and doing the job right the first time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in residential construction, deck building, carpentry, or construction project management.
  • Strong working knowledge of deck framing, structural components, footings, beams, joists, decking, and railing systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop construction drawings and material lists.
  • Familiarity with residential building codes, permitting processes, and construction best practices.
  • Experience managing subcontractors or installation crews.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn construction management software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects while maintaining attention to detail.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable working in both office and active construction environments.
  • Ability to perform field measurements and navigate residential construction sites.
  • Professional appearance and customer-first attitude.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
