Custom Crane Systems, LLC (CCS) installs, repairs and inspects overhead bridge cranes. Jack Hinsdale founded CCS in August 2024 as an independent alternative to the private-equity-owned crane companies. We have branches in Greenville, SC, Baltimore, MD and Geneva, NY, and we are growing.

The role

We are hiring a Project Manager to run crane projects from estimate through drawings to completion. You will also lead the build-out of our estimating, drafting and project management standards.

This is a hands-on role with a builder's mandate. You will manage your own projects, produce drawings and build estimates. You will also design the processes, templates and standards that let CCS scale these functions across every branch as we grow.

What you'll do

Project management

• Manage overhead crane and runway projects from award through installation and closeout.
• Own scope, schedule, budget and customer communication on every project you run.
• Coordinate with sales, field installation crews, vendors and branch managers.

Drafting and estimating

• Produce and review crane, runway and layout drawings.
• Build accurate estimates and proposals for new equipment and installation projects.
• Hand off cleanly between sales, estimating, drafting and the field.

Standards leadership

• Lead the design of CCS's estimating, drafting and project management standards.
• Create a standard component taxonomy for cranes and runways, plus drawing templates and naming conventions.
• Define the workflow from quote request to estimate, drawings, approval and installation, with clear handoffs and decision rights.
• Help set up these processes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, our new ERP system.
• Train and mentor others on the standards and improve them as the company grows.

What you bring

Required

• 7+ years of experience in the overhead crane or material handling industry, covering project management, drafting and estimating.
• Working knowledge of bridge cranes, monorails, runways, hoists and related components.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• A track record of building estimates and managing projects to budget and schedule.
• Clear communication with customers, sales staff and field crews.

Preferred

• Experience building or improving standards, templates or workflows in an estimating or drafting department.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Knowledge of CMAA, ASME B30 and OSHA requirements for overhead cranes.

Location, schedule and what we offer

This role is based at our Home Office in Greenville, SC. For now you'll be in the office a couple of days a month. Once our new building is complete, your schedule will be flexible, with at least 80% of your time in the office.
