Project Manager - Fire Protection

Within a CAPEX engineering team, you’ll own the technical fire protection scope of major investment projects in a regulated industrial environment, from concept definition to handover to operations.

What you’ll do

• Help define fire protection concepts and technical requirements for new facilities and upgrades
• Act as the technical lead for fire protection installations: sprinklers, deluge, gas/dry extinguishing systems, firewater networks and firewater retention
• Liaise with architects, engineering firms, fire safety experts, project teams and the on-site fire brigade
• Steer contractors and suppliers of fire protection installations, keeping budget, timeline, quality and compliance on track
• Take part in 3D model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination to resolve interfaces and clashes
• Drive commissioning, functional tests and acceptance of fire protection systems, including integrated tests with other disciplines
• Compile and validate as-built documentation and ensure a smooth handover to operations
• Contribute to other engineering topics within the CAPEX team when needed

Your profile

• Engineering degree (Bachelor/Master) in mechanical, process, chemical engineering or similar
• 5 to 10 years of experience in engineering, project execution or operations within pharma, biotech, chemical or industrial manufacturing
• Solid hands-on expertise in fire protection systems and Swiss standards (VKF/AEAI, SES)
• Good grasp of fire risk assessment and of how to choose between wet and dry suppression solutions for production, lab and utility buildings
• VKF qualification (e.g. specialist in water-based extinguishing systems) is a strong plus
• Exposure to GMP and cleanroom environments is an advantage
• Proven experience with commissioning and integrated testing
• Confident managing contractors and multiple stakeholders
• Autonomous, structured and rigorous, comfortable in complex multidisciplinary settings
• Languages: fluent German (mandatory) , working English; French is a plus
