Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to serve as a Project Manager overseeing structural steel inspection, welding qualifications, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) projects.

This position will work directly under senior management and be responsible for coordinating multiple projects, managing inspection personnel, reviewing technical documentation, and maintaining communication with clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in structural steel fabrication, welding inspection, and applicable industry codes, along with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate multiple structural steel inspection and NDT projects from start to completion.
• Schedule and dispatch AWS CWIs, ICC Special Inspectors, and NDT technicians for shop and field assignments.
• Coordinate inspector travel arrangements, including flights, lodging, and transportation when required.
• Develop, review, and manage Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQRs).
• Coordinate welder qualification testing and maintain qualification and continuity records.
• Review inspection reports, NDT results, material documentation, and project submittals for accuracy and compliance.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and applicable inspection requirements.
• Communicate directly with clients, fabricators, contractors, and inspection personnel regarding scheduling, technical issues, and project progress.
• Monitor project schedules, inspection hours, staffing needs, and overall project performance.
• Assist with quality control plans, inspection procedures, proposals, and project documentation as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification REQUIRED.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication, welding inspection, NDT, and/or inspection project management.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.8, AISC, ASTM, and applicable ICC inspection requirements.
• Experience with WPSs, PQRs, welder qualifications, and welding documentation.
• Familiarity with NDT methods, including UT, MT, PT.
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Proficient and excellent computer skills are a must in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PDF documentation.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and coordinate personnel across different locations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as required.

Preferred: ICC Structural Steel/Welding and Bolting certifications, ASNT NDT Level II qualifications, and previous experience managing inspection personnel or quality assurance projects.

Pay: $79,000.00 - $83,200.00 per year
