Project Manager (Interior Design and Build)

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Oversight & Coordination

• Review project details, technical drawings, specifications, and material selections before execution.
• Assess design feasibility, constructability, practicality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Identify potential technical or site issues before work begins and recommend preventive solutions.
• Monitor overall project progress, key milestones, and potential delays.
• Ensure proper coordination between designers, project teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Review critical project decisions that may affect quality, timeline, cost, or client expectations.
• Attend site when necessary for major technical issues, complex coordination matters, or high-level problem-solving.

2. Site Issue Resolution

• Act as the main escalation point for complex or critical site issues.
• Analyze site problems and provide practical, commercially sensible solutions.
• Coordinate directly with contractors, suppliers, designers, and internal project teams to resolve issues efficiently.
• Ensure corrective actions are properly communicated, implemented, and followed through.
• Prevent recurring issues by identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
• Ensure workmanship and project execution meet the company's required quality standards.

3. Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Provide technical advice in client communication channels when escalation is required.
• Support designers in communicating technical matters clearly and professionally to clients.
• Ensure project issues, proposed solutions, implications, and next steps are communicated accurately.
• Minimize misunderstandings between clients, designers, contractors, suppliers, and project teams.
• Assist in managing technically sensitive or complex client situations when necessary.

4. Process Improvement & Quality Control

• Develop and continuously improve a structured project handover and execution process.

• Establish practical site management checklists, quality-control procedures, and technical review standards.

• Review recurring project issues and recommend improvements to internal workflows.

• Improve coordination between design, project, contractor, supplier, and site teams.

• Introduce preventive controls to reduce:

  • Site mistakes
  • Rework
  • Unnecessary variation costs
  • Project delays
  • Client complaints

• Recommend improvements that increase project efficiency, execution quality, profitability, and client satisfaction.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

To measure the effectiveness of this role, the following KPIs will be tracked:

1. Project Completion Rate – Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
2. Issue Resolution Efficiency – How quickly and effectively site problems are solved.
3. Customer Satisfaction – Ensuring minimal complaints related to project execution.
4. Contractor & Supplier Coordination Efficiency – Ensuring smooth collaboration with external teams.

Requirements

Must-Have:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in project management within the interior design or renovation industry.
• Strong understanding of renovation processes, materials, and site management.
• Proven experience in managing contractors, suppliers, and site issues.
• Ability to train and mentor sales-driven designers with little site experience.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, designers, and contractors.
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and quality control.
• Able to work under pressure and resolve site problems effectively.
