What they need

Project Manager - Long Lead Items (LLI)

Location: Derby, Manchester or Warrington

Salary Range - £50,600 - £66,500

At Rolls-Royce SMR, we're delivering a British solution to a global energy challenge. Our Small Modular Reactor programme is helping shape the future of low-carbon energy and creating one of the UK's most exciting advanced engineering projects. As we move towards deployment, we're strengthening the teams that will deliver critical programme milestones and transform ambitious plans into reality.

The Programme Management team sits at the centre of this mission, bringing together engineering, procurement, regulation and construction disciplines to deliver complex programmes safely, efficiently and on schedule. Working across a broad stakeholder landscape, you'll help ensure critical project outcomes are achieved while influencing the future of nuclear deployment in the UK.

In this context, we're looking for a Project Manager - Long Lead Items (LLI) to support delivery of key equipment packages for the GBE-N programme. Reporting to the Programme Manager and leading a small team of Assistant Project Managers, you'll take ownership of critical projects that directly support the construction schedule and long-term success of a first-of-a-kind nuclear programme.

We'll need you to:

  • Lead the delivery of Long Lead Item projects from engineering specification through procurement, manufacture, site delivery and handover.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and regulatory stakeholders to maintain programme momentum and manage critical interfaces.
  • Drive robust project controls, including schedule management, risk mitigation, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Develop and mentor Assistant Project Managers while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

This is a pivotal role within a high-profile programme, and you'll bring strategic thinking, strong stakeholder management skills and a proactive approach to solving complex delivery challenges, as well as:

What we're looking for

  • An engineering qualification, project management qualification (such as APM PMQ) or equivalent demonstrable experience managing complex engineering projects.
  • Experience leading major engineering or capital projects within highly regulated industries.
  • We'll ask about your experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing project risks and delivering projects to time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of project management disciplines, contract management and project controls, with familiarity of tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Power BI or similar platforms.

Location

We offer flexible and hybrid working, with regular attendance expected at one of our Rolls-Royce SMR locations. Travel to supplier, customer and project locations will be required as needed.

What's in it for you?

The salary for this role is £50,600 - £66,500, dependent on the skills, experience and values you bring.  You’ll also receive:

  • Bonus: 12.5% (performance related)
  • Personal Benefits Allowance: £2,200
  • Pension: 12% employer / 6% employee
  • Holidays: 28 days + public holidays (option to buy/sell up to 4 days)
  • Private Medical Insurance: BUPA
  • Life Assurance: 6× pensionable pay
  • Home Office Support: £250 one off payment for new starters

Pay Range:

£50,600.00
