ROLE PURPOSE
The Project Manager / Project Engineer Mechanical holds single-point accountability for the planning, execution, control and successful delivery of mechanical engineering and EPC projects within the approved cost, quality, safety, schedule and contractual requirements.
The role exists because mechanical EPC projects carry significant technical, commercial and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle. Equipment procurement, fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning must be coordinated precisely for projects to achieve their intended performance and commercial objectives. The Project Manager / Project Engineer is therefore accountable for ensuring that Company commitments are transformed into successful project outcomes while protecting profitability, maintaining client confidence and ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.
Because the role represents the Company's principal operational authority on assigned projects, it is expected to coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and stakeholder management activities from project award through completion. The incumbent must be equally capable of solving technical challenges, managing project resources, administering contracts, controlling costs and leading multidisciplinary teams under demanding project conditions.
The role reports to the General Manager Mechanical Projects for operational direction and works closely with Procurement, Finance, Contracts, HSE, Quality and Commercial functions to ensure successful project execution across East Africa.
