Project Manager (Solar with BESS experience)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the end-to-end execution of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects . The role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery while maintaining accurate reporting and effective stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle of Solar PV and BESS projects, from planning and mobilization through commissioning and handover.
• Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and risk registers.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning teams, contractors, vendors, and clients.
• Oversee daily site activities and monitor progress against project milestones and key performance indicators.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, delays, technical issues, and commercial challenges.
• Manage contractor and subcontractor performance, ensuring deliverables are completed according to scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
• Review and validate engineering designs, procurement packages, construction methodologies, and commissioning plans.
• Oversee the installation, testing, integration, and commissioning of Solar PV and BESS systems.
• Ensure effective interface management among electrical, civil, mechanical, SCADA, and energy storage workstreams.
• Prepare and submit timely project reports, forecasts, progress updates, and stakeholder presentations.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders regarding project status, key risks, changes, and critical milestones.
• Ensure successful project closeout, documentation, performance testing, and handover activities.
• Drive continuous improvement in project execution, safety performance, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of project management experience in renewable energy, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing Solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from concept through commissioning.
• Strong background in EPC, construction, and commissioning of utility-scale or commercial renewable energy projects.
• Demonstrated experience in managing project schedules, budgets, contracts, risks, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of BESS technologies, battery systems, PCS/inverters, EMS, SCADA, and grid interconnection requirements.
• Knowledge of renewable energy regulations, permitting requirements, industry standards, and HSE practices.
• Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities in complex project environments.
• Ability to prepare and present clear, accurate, and timely reports to clients and senior management.

Preferred Skills

• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent Project Management certification.
• Experience managing utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects .
• Familiarity with battery technologies such as Lithium-ion, LFP, and associated balance-of-plant systems.
• Experience with grid connection, energization, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Strong background in contractor, supplier, and subcontractor management.
• Proficiency in project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar platforms.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and commercial management skills.
• Willingness to be site-based for the duration of the project.
• Consultant/project-based experience is an advantage.
• Ability to issue a Service Invoice/Official Receipt is preferred for consultant-based engagement.
