What they need
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Our client is an established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong track record in the Irish water sector. They deliver projects that protect public health and the environment and support growing communities, from treatment facilities and pumping stations to network upgrades and pipeline schemes.
The business is known for technical capability, safe delivery and a collaborative approach to working with clients, consultants and local stakeholders. That reputation has brought long-standing client relationships and a steady flow of repeat work across the public and regulated utility sectors.
Investment in Ireland’s water and wastewater infrastructure is set to continue for many years, driven by population growth, environmental compliance and the need to modernise ageing assets. With a healthy pipeline in place, the business is strengthening its project delivery team in the West, creating an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take on a key role.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS
As Project Manager, you will take ownership of water infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover. Typical schemes may include water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, network upgrades and pipeline works, often involving live operational assets and close coordination with the client’s operations teams.
You will lead a project team of engineers, foremen and subcontractors, working closely with clients, design teams and local authorities. The culture is collaborative and safety-focused, and project managers are trusted with genuine ownership of their projects while being supported by an experienced leadership team.
The role covers the full project lifecycle, including planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, process commissioning and handover. It offers long-term involvement in projects of real public value, and a strong platform for progression into senior project and operational leadership roles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets and resources to ensure delivery on time and within cost
- Lead and coordinate engineers, site teams and subcontractors, including civil, MEICA and process packages
- Oversee contract administration, early warnings, compensation events, risk and reporting under NEC and PWC forms of contract
- Ensure all works meet the highest standards of health and safety, quality and environmental compliance
- Manage interfaces with live operational assets, working closely with client operations teams
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities and community stakeholders
- Oversee testing, commissioning and handover documentation
WHAT YOU NEED
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering water, wastewater or civil infrastructure projects
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience on treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines or network schemes, including MEICA interfaces
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts; experience of PWC is beneficial
- Familiarity with Uisce Éireann standards and processes is highly beneficial
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A full clean driving licence and the flexibility to travel to project locations across the region
WHAT YOU'LL GET IN RETURN
This role offers a salary of €100,000 plus a company vehicle. More importantly, it is a long-term career platform within an established infrastructure business with a secure pipeline in one of Ireland’s most heavily invested sectors. You will lead projects of genuine public value, supported by a leadership team that invests in its people and offers a clear path into senior project and operational leadership.
