What they need
Sub Zero Waterproofing delivers high-quality waterproofing solutions across commercial and high-end residential projects. We’re a values-led team known for getting quality work done to a high standard, while building great relationships along the way. As we grow, we’re looking for a hands-on Project Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of waterproofing projects from pre-start through to completion.
About the role
This role is all about making sure projects are ready, organised, communicated and delivered well. You’ll keep multiple jobs moving by taking charge of site readiness, materials, communication and quality, so our applicators can stay productive and projects run smoothly.
A big part of the role is staying ahead of the game, knowing what’s coming up, sorting what’s needed before the crew arrives, and removing roadblocks before they slow anyone down. This is a field-based role. You’ll spend most of your day on site, with office time in Silverdale.
The day-to-day will be cover these 5 major parts:
Project Planning & Site Readiness
- Take ownership of your allocated projects from handover through to completion.
- Review job scopes, plans and requirements before work starts.
- Carry out site measures and pre-start checks, and attend site meetings where required.
- Arrange materials and deliveries so the crew is good to go on day one.
- Identify access, substrate, programme and sequencing issues that could affect installation.
Project Coordination & Delivery
- Coordinate the day-to-day needs of your projects across multiple sites.
- Let the team know what crew and resources your projects need.
- Monitor progress against scope and programme, and spot delays early.
- Check in with the crew at the end of the day so everyone knows what’s next.
- Jump in when needed, helping move material, or trouble shoot an on the job fix to keep things flowing.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct site checks pre and post installation.
- Prepare and document QA (photos and checklists).
- Maintain high workmanship standards that protect our reputation and customer trust.
Problem Solving & Relationships
- Be the go-to person for the crew on your projects.
- Gather the information needed to make decisions quickly: photos, calls, plans or a site visit.
- Build strong relationships with the team, site managers, builders, suppliers and clients.
- Give proactive updates rather than waiting for people to chase.
- Escalate significant technical or operational risks when needed.
Health & Safety & Systems
- Ensure the team follows H&S protocols on every job, including regular site checks using HazardCo.
- Keep project information accurate and current in Simpro and Conqa.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Are highly organised and naturally think two steps ahead.
- Can juggle multiple projects and switch easily between site, clients and admin
- Lead by example and are happy to get stuck in on site.
- Stay calm under pressure and look for solutions, not excuses
- Build strong, honest relationships with clients, builders and the team.
- Care about quality and aren’t afraid to address something that isn’t up to standard
- Take ownership of your projects and are open to learning new ways of working.
- Enjoy being part of a small team where everyone pitches in and backs each other
Experience we’re looking for
- Waterproofing, roofing or tanking experience is highly desirable. Construction site management experience will also be considered.
- Previous Project Manager, Site Manager, Supervisor experience with the ability to read plans, specifications and scopes of work.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site readiness.
- Strong QA/QC capability and attention to detail.
- Comfortable with systems. Simpro and Conqa experience would be an advantage.
- Able to do regular manual handling of materials on site.
- Full NZ driver licence.
