We are seeking a motivated, organized, and technically capable individual to join our team in a combined Tank Services Technician / Estimator role. This position combines hands-on fieldwork with project estimating, job planning, scheduling, and coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience with fuel tank systems and the ability to evaluate project requirements, prepare accurate estimates, coordinate labor and materials, and help ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable requirements. This is a specialized industry requiring technical knowledge, practical field experience, and applicable certifications. The successful candidate must be comfortable working both in the field and in an office environment, communicating professionally with customers and coworkers, and managing multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Duties
- Perform and coordinate UST and AST installations, removals, piping work, modifications, upgrades, inspections, testing, and other fuel tank system services.
- Conduct site visits and job walks to assess project conditions, determine the scope of work, identify equipment and material requirements, and gather information needed to prepare accurate estimates.
- Prepare customer estimates and quotations in a timely manner, including anticipated labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor services, and other project costs.
- Plan, organize, and schedule field activities, labor, equipment, supplies, and subcontractors to support efficient project completion.
- Coordinate with customers, management, field technicians, suppliers, subcontractors, and other parties to communicate project requirements and schedules.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure work is completed within the agreed-upon scope, schedule, and customer expectations.
- Order project materials and supplies, coordinate deliveries, and confirm that necessary equipment and resources are available before work begins.
- Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier pricing, coordinate subcontracted work, and help ensure services are performed safely and professionally.
- Assist with tank system inspections, compliance testing, fuel sampling, environmental services, and related work as applicable to experience and qualifications.
- Maintain project records, field reports, service documentation, job folders, estimates, work orders, and other paperwork necessary for project completion and billing.
- Review completed project documentation and coordinate with the office and accounting personnel to support accurate invoicing and timely billing.
- Review subcontractor and supplier invoices for accuracy against completed work, approved pricing, and project requirements.
- Maintain project schedules, dispatch information, and internal records, and communicate job assignments and updates to field personnel.
- Follow applicable safety requirements, company safety procedures, industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Identify potential job hazards, confirm required materials and safety documentation are available, and coordinate pre-job safety discussions when necessary.
- Communicate with customers and applicable regulatory agencies regarding project requirements, schedules, documentation, and completion as needed.
- Help evaluate alternative work methods and solutions based on field experience, technical knowledge, safety, and project requirements.
- Respond to customer inquiries and assist with emergency service coordination, including evaluating the personnel, equipment, materials, and response requirements needed for a particular situation.
- Perform fieldwork or assist with emergency response activities when necessary and qualified to do so.
- Maintain tools, equipment, company vehicles, and other resources used in assigned work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience

- Familiarity with threaded steel pipe, fittings, fuel system components, and common tank installation and service practices.
- Ability to assess job-site conditions and determine labor, materials, equipment, and other resources required to complete a project.
- Experience preparing estimates, reviewing project costs, coordinating fieldwork, or scheduling personnel and equipment is beneficial.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions, project specifications, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with customers, technicians, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take responsibility for assigned projects, and provide direction to crew members when needed.
