Project Programmer

About the role

We are seeking a Project Programmer to join Malayan Insurance Co., Inc. (MICO) in Manila City, Metro Manila on a full-time basis. This role is crucial to our digital transformation initiatives, where you will play a key part in developing, maintaining and enhancing software solutions that support our insurance operations. As a Project Programmer, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications and systems that meet business requirements and improve operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software applications and systems that support insurance business processes
• Write clean, efficient and well-documented code adhering to established coding standards and best practices
• Collaborate with project managers, business analysts and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, performance and security of developed software
• Test applications thoroughly to identify and resolve bugs, errors and performance issues
• Maintain and update existing systems to ensure optimal performance and compatibility
• Provide technical documentation and support to end-users and other team members
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies
• Troubleshoot technical issues and implement timely resolutions

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, Visual Basic or similar
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
• Experience with database management systems and SQL is an advantage
• Knowledgeable in web technologies, APIs and integration systems
• Good in problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and team collaboration abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
• Familiarity with software testing frameworks and quality assurance practices
